Kent Simmelink

Kent Edward Simmelink, 73 of New Bern, NC, and formerly of Oostburg, died November 18, 2008 in New Bern, NC. Kent was born in Oostburg on January 2, 1935, the son of the late Edward and Selena (Wright) Simmelink. He served in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. He graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa in 1959. Kent spent most of his career in Insurance. Upon his retirement he founder and owner of Investors Realty. He was born, raised and lived most of his life in the Midwest. He moved to New Bern, North Carolina in 1989. He is survived by his former wife of 26 years, Mary Beth Simmelink, one son, Jeffrey Kent Simmelink of New Bern, NC; three daughters, Julie Simmelink Rowe of New Bern, NC; Laura Christine Simmelink of Asheville, NC; Connie Marie Bottiglione and her husband Dr. Richard Bottiglione of Scottsdale, AZ; and three grandchildren, Gia, Tori and Nicholas Bottiglione. Kent was a wonderful father to his children and showed particular devotion to his special son Jeffrey. Kent was preceded in death by his parents Edward Simmelink and Selena Wright Simmelink, his brother Arnold Snoeyenbos and one nephew Ross Snoeyenbos. Funeral service will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg at Noon on Saturday, December 6, 2008 with the Rev. Wayne DeVrou officiating. Military Honors and burial will follow at Oostburg Cemetery. A reception and lunch will follow the cemetery services at 1:30 pm at The Villager Restaurant, located at 124 Pine Street in Sheboygan Falls. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday from 11 am until the time of the service at Noon.
