Kenneth Herman Thimmig, 89, of Oostburg, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Ken was born to Harry and Louisa (Meyer) Thimmig on January 4, 1933, in Sheboygan. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1950.
Ken was united in marriage to Sharon Mehlberg on June 26, 1954, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956, where he was stationed in Korea. Following his military service, Ken owned and operated their family dairy farm for over 35 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed mowing the greens at Sunset Golf Course.
Ken was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for over 50 years and on the board of elders. Together, he and Sharon enjoyed going polka dancing and attending polka bands in the area. Ken enjoyed playing cards, golfing, hunting, and attending the Sheboygan County Fair every year.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Linda (David) TenDolle of Oostburg; son, Gary (Kimberly) Thimmig of Mt. Calvary; son-in-law, Spencer Kaesermann of Oostburg; grandchildren, Matthew TenDolle, Jeffrey (Tiah) TenDolle, Brian Verhelst, Kyle Verhelst, Angela (Robert) Boenisch, Rachel (Derek) Loehr, Brenda (David) Cook, Michael (Danielle) Thimmig; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Linden, and Zendaya TenDolle, Abigail Verhelst, Morgan and Taylor Boenisch, Caleb, Carter, William, Natalie, and Nicholas Loehr, Jacob, Emmalynn and Henry Cook, Colin and Mackenzie Thimmig. He is further survived by his sister, Delores VanDeLoo; sisters-in-law, Sharon Mehlberg and Grace Reklaitis; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Kaesermann; parents; parents-in-law, Raymond and Florence Mehlberg; step-mother-in-law, Anastasia Mehlberg; sister, Rithe Cook; brothers-in-law: Clarence VanDeLoo, Thomas Mehlberg, and Walter Reklaitis.
A funeral service to celebrate Ken’s life will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 1:00pm. Ken will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 10:00am until the service at 1:00pm.
Memorials are appreciated in Ken’s name to Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
