Kenneth B. Meyer, 94, of Cedar Grove died on Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2012, at Cedar Grove Gardens where he had resided since May. Kenneth was born on July 28, 1918, in the Town of Holland, the son of William and Lucile (Birkett) Meyer. Kenneth graduated from Oostburg High School in 1937 and then served in the US Navy during WWII from 1943-46. On September 30, 1939, he married Viola Dulmes in Sheboygan Falls. Viola preceded him in death on January 23, 2010 following 70 years of marriage. Kenneth was a molder at the State Foundry/Willman Industries for 34 years before his retirement in 1983. Earlier, he worked at Kraft Cheese Co. in Plymouth for several years. Kenneth was a member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, the VFW Post 5612 in Plymouth, the Quarter Century Club at Willman Industries, and the International Molder and Allied Workers Union Local 261 where he served as treasurer and financial secretary for 29 years. He enjoyed card playing, fishing, hunting, bowling, and yardwork. Kenneth is survived by his son, Tom Meyer of Cedar Grove; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Dennis) (Meyer) Reha of Cedar Grove; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Laura), Kevin (Laura Elaine), Bradley Meyer, Daniel Meyer, and Terri (Justin) Black; two great granddaughters, Elise and Emilee Meyer; one sister, Juanita Simmelink of AZ; three sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Kenneth) Popp of Sheboygan Falls, Doris (Alan) Smith of Virginia; and Marijean Dulmes of Oostburg. Kenneth is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; two sons, Roger, and an infant, Richard Meyer; one sister, Ruth (Raymond) Graven, one brother, Russell (Virginia) Meyer, and one brother-in-law Harley Simmelink. A memorial service will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 6 pm with the Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Military honors will follow. Private burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Friends may gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 4 pm until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established in his memory for the VFW Post 5612 in Plymouth.
