Kenneth J. Bailey, 78, of Oostburg, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Kenneth was born on September 1, 1937, in Madison, the son of Alfred and Ella (Paul) Bailey. Kenneth served in the US Army from 1954-58. He married Jean Roerdink on October 15, 1966. Kenneth was a drywaller for various drywall companies up until this retirement in 1999. Kenneth was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg. He enjoyed stock car racing, playing the harmonica and accordion, listening to polka and old country western music, and watching old western movies. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean; two daughters, Lynn Bailey of Edgerton and Diane Bailey of Cottage Grove; one son, James (Amy) Bailey of Hingham; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Rice of Cottage Grove. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kay Bailey, two sons, Kenneth M. "Mike" Bailey and Jeff Maruska; seven sisters, five brothers, and parents-in-law, Milfert and Cornelia Roerdink. Funeral services to celebrate Kenneth's life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg with Rev. Drew Zylstra officiating. Burial will take place at Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Thursday from noon until the time of the service at 2 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Kenneth's name.
