Kathleen Schmeling

Kathleen Ann Schmeling (Busse), age 70, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, surrounded by her family. Kathleen was born Jan 27, 1945, to Stuart and Helen Busse in Evanston, IL. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, WI, where she met Richard Schmeling, her loving husband of 50 yrs. She dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was a beacon of kindness to all who met her. We've all been deeply touched by Kathy's peace, faith, spirit, and tremendous strength during her battle with cancer. Throughout her fight she always kept others' needs above her own and a caring smile that never left her beautiful face. Kathy was a member of Lumen Christi Catholic Parish in Mequon. She enjoyed walking, flowers, gardening, travel reading, music, beaches, biking, baking, and attending her grandchildren's activities. Kathy is survived by her loving husband Richard, and her 4 children - Krista Schmeling of Australia, David Schmeling of Madison, John (Erin) Schmeling of Palatine, IL, and Keri (Lee) Keidel of Costa Rica; and her 8 grandchildren - Jacob, Abbie, Will, Kaleb, Nathaniel Schmeling, Ella Keide, and Liam and Aiden Campbell. She is further survived by her two brothers, Stuart (Camille) Busse of Northville, MI and John Busse of Elgin, IL. Kathy was preceded in death by her grandson, R.J. Chapa Schmeling. A private family service was held at St. John Evangelist Catholic in Kohler and burial was held at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler.
