Karen Otte

Karen J. (Eernisse) Otte, 74, of Cedar Grove, met her Lord and Savior on February 28, 2021 at Sharon Richardson Hospice.

Karen J. Meeusen was born on June 23, 1946, in Sheboygan to Lester & Muriel (Huibregtse) Meeusen. She was a graduate of Cedar Grove High School and Sheboygan Vocation and Technical School.

She was united in marriage to Gary Lee Eernisse on July 22, 1967, at First Reformed of Cedar Grove. Gary preceded her in death on July 29, 1989.  She was a dedicated wife, friend, and mother, and worked as the Village Clerk of Cedar Grove for many years.

April 12, 1997, Karen married James Otte in Cedar Grove. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2007.

Karen was an active member of First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with her ladies’ group, rooting on Wisconsin sports teams, traveling, and taking family trips to Door County.  She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren- watching sporting events, games, and activities. Karen loved to spend time with others. She was caring, humble, and generous and will be dearly missed.

She was survived by two sons, Eric (Sally) Eernisse of Cedar Grove and Scott (Janel) Eernisse of Hingham; five grandchildren, Caden, Kyler, Gabriella, Maisie, and Everett Eernisse; one brother, Gary (Debbie) Meeusen of Cedar Grove; step-children, Amy (Ryan) Dekker, Denise (Ryan) Rabe, Timothy (Jennifer) Otte, and Kenneth (Kristin) Otte; sister-in-law, Ginny (John) Jossi; and many beloved step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-siblings. She is further survived by nieces, nephews’ other relatives and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary, second husband, Jim, and parents, Lester & Muriel Meeusen.

A funeral service to celebrate Karen’s life will take place at First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 11:00 am. Visitation will take place at church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
