Judith "Judi" Gardner Leynse passed away on April 29, 2016 at St. Nicholas Hospital after a brief illness with her loving family by her side. Judi was born on September 27, 1944, daughter of the late Ed and Linda (Borkenhagen) Gardner. She attended St. John's Lutheran Grade School in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School in June of 1962. On September 10, 1966 she married David J Leynse at St. John's Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2015. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Sheboygan Falls were they resided for the majority of their married life and became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in 1966 until the present. In addition to raising her children, Trish and Toby, she had numerous jobs but her favorite was the job she held with Sheboygan County Division of Aging for 24 years, retiring in April of 2009. She loved all aspects of her job and enjoyed working and learning from the senior citizens of Sheboygan County. Judi was a campfire leader for her daughter's troop for several years and also taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church; a group that she held dear to her heart. She also was a MOW (Meals on Wheels) volunteer, medical driver for the ADRC ( Aging and Disability Resource Center) and volunteered at the Gathering Place which is a daycare for Alzheimer's. She loved being part of this group and always said she received more than she gave. She was an avid Brewer and Packer fan and also enjoyed her ladies card club, knitting, crocheting and getting together with extended family twice yearly for bowling and golf. She treasured her fishing trips to Eagle River and spending time with Captain Ralph and first mate, Delores. Survivors include her children, Trish (Dave) Kuplic of Appleton and their children, Drew and Will; Toby (Donna) Leynse of Florida and her children, Philip and Joseph Freitas. Judi loved her grandchildren deeply and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She always said, "If I knew having grandchildren was so much fun, I would have had them first"! She is also survived by her brother Jim (Judy) Gardner of West Bend, nieces, nephews, cousins and many endearing friends. Judi was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; parents, Linda and Ed Gardner; in-laws, Cornie and Johanna Leynse and her precious granddaughter, Ali Kuplic. A celebration of Judi's life will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 4pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev Tom Gudmundson officiating.
