Judith Kay Achsel, age 80, of Sheboygan Falls, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Judy was born on December 7, 1944, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Emma Ploetz. Judy graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1963.
On June 6th, 1964, Judy was united in marriage to Thomas H. Achsel in Sheboygan. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren.
Judy was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed hosting celebrations for her family, making birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations extra special with her love and hospitality. Judy also enjoyed working outside the home. She had the ability to serve others graciously.
Judy worked at Thimmig’s Restaurant in Sheboygan. She continued her customer service work in the deli at Park and Shop in Sheboygan. This is where she was able to share her talents making fresh salads and tortes for the deli case.
Her laughter could fill a room with happiness. Her bright smile would make those she met feel loved. She found her greatest purpose and joy helping her family. She enjoyed making a home for Tom and their two children. Eventually she was blessed to share her love with her grandchildren. She always made time to care for her grandchildren, teaching them to be kind and caring. Judy was a volunteer at the Early Learning Center in Sheboygan and the YMCA Daycare in Sheboygan Falls. She enjoyed Christian fellowship through her church with the Dainty Dollies women's group and Sunday School. Judy was a member of First Reformed Church-Sheboygan Falls. Through the years she was also a member of St Andrews Lutheran Church, St Peters Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, and Oostburg Christian Reformed Church.
Judy is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Lisa (Jack) Ebbers of Oostburg; son, Kurt (Kimberly) Achsel of Kimberly, WI; grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, and Brett Ebbers, Bryson and Macie Achsel; sister, Susan (Dan) Hein of Sheboygan; brother, Edward Ploetz of Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma Ploetz, parents-in-law, Herman and Ruth Achsel, sister-in-law Charon Ploetz, and nephew Daniel Ploetz.
A Funeral Service to honor Judy's life will take place at First Reformed Church of Sheboygan Falls, 527 Giddings Ave, at 10:00am on Friday, December 20, 2024, with Rev. Brad Veenendaal officiating.
