Joseph A. Wield Jr. 66, of 804 Broadway, Sheboygan Falls died at his home on Friday night, October 8, 2010 following a nine year battle with cancer. Joe was born on October 4, 1944 in Sheboygan, the son of the late Joseph C. and Dorothy (Wissbroecker) Wield. He attended Sheboygan Falls High School. On June 20, 1964, he married Barbara Weissgerber in Sheboygan. Joe worked at Tecumseh Die Cast from 1964 until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, NASCAR, hunting, fishing, feeding squirrels, spending time up north in the Eagle River area, and collecting Garfield figures. Joe enjoyed cooking and was well known for his delicious potato dumplings and homemade noodles. He had a good sense of humor and tried to look at life in a positive way. Joe was always ready to help anyone in need. He cherished the time he could spend with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and dog, Neko. Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Mike (Judith) Wield of Sheboygan, Bryan (Tammy) Wield of Sheboygan Falls, and Tim (friend Linda) Wield of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Justin (Alisha) Wield, Calvin Wield, Christina Brown, Taryn and Callie Wield, and Dexter Wield; six step grandchildren, Tina (Calvin) Kesweder, Tracy and Charles Mason, Nicholas (Missy), Jenna, and Matthew (Colleen) Tullberg; three great grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; three sisters, Donna (Larry) Hametner of Sheboygan Falls, Carol (friend Porfo) Johnson of New York, and Marylou (Thomas) Jenquin of Cudahy; two brothers, Robert (Deanna) Wield of Sheboygan Falls, and Ronald Wield of Cudahy; four sisters-in-law, Judy Wield of Sheboygan Falls, Patsy Schmidt, Marcia (David "Ernie") Roob, and Linda Weissgerber, all of Sheboygan; two brothers-in-law, Dan (Judy) Weissgerber of Sheboygan Falls and Steven (Jennifer) Weissgerber of Sheboygan. Joe is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth Wield; two brothers-in-law, David Weissgerber and Michael Weissgerber; and one sister-in-law, Elanor Wield. Funeral services will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10 am with the Rev. Richard York officiating. Burial will follow at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Monday from 4-8 pm, and on Tuesday, from 9 am until the time of the service at 10 am.
