John "Jack" A. Lorenz, 82, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 30, 2013, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Jack was born on May 31, 1930, at the family home in the Town of Lima, son of Frank and Lillian (Walsh) Lorenz. He attended local schools and was a 1948 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. Jack served in the US Army from 1952 - 1954. While in service he was part of the SCARWAF Unit, attached to the Air Force, building air strips in Korea. Jack and Ceil looked forward to annual Korean Veteran reunions, held in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Many were held in the Sheboygan area. On October 6, 1956, Jack and Cecilia Theresa Van De Kreeke were united in marriage at St. Clement Catholic Church in Sheboygan. They spent their entire married life in Sheboygan Falls raising four sons. Jack worked at Borden Foods in Plymouth for over 30 years, where he drove truck and worked in shipping. He retired in 1992. Following retirement, he enjoyed helping his brothers on the family farm. Jack was an enthusiastic NASCAR and Packer fan. Highlights included watching Dale Earnhardt race at Darlington and attending the Packer "Ice Bowl" in 1967. He enjoyed watching his sons and eventually his grandchildren in their sport and school activities. Jack and Ceil enjoyed travel, including trips to Alaska and Hawaii. They made many spring time trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. These trips included taking each grandchild with them to see the ocean. Jack was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, where he served as an usher in earlier years. He was also part of the first father/son Mass server teams at St. Mary's. Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cecilia (Ceil); his three sons, Steven (Kris) Lorenz, Michael Lorenz, and William Lorenz, all of Sheboygan Falls; three grandchildren, Adam John, Theresa Lynn, and Joseph Steven Lorenz; sister, Grace Lorenz of Sheboygan Falls; brother, Andrew Lorenz of Sheboygan Falls, one sister-in-law, Virginia Lorenz of Sheboygan Falls; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Zimmermann of Sheboygan Falls and Alvin Steinke of Plymouth; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends. Jack was preceded in death by his son Mark Lorenz; parents, Frank and Lillian; his two sisters, Madeline Zimmermann and Joan Steinke; four brothers, Francis (Dorothy) Lorenz, Richard Lorenz, Eugene Lorenz, and Philip (Shirley) Lorenz; and two nephews, Todd and Gary Lorenz. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Blessed Trinity Parish with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 3:00 pm until the time of Mass at 6:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Jack's name for the charity of your choice.
