Joanne Marie Gesch

Joanne Marie Gesch, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Songbird Pond Assisted Living in Plymouth. 

Joanne was born on February 12, 1935, to Joseph Jocis and Anna (Vertacic) Jocis Guckeisen in Sheboygan. She attended St. Peter Claver and graduated from Central High School in 1953. Joanne worked at Leverenz Shoe Co as an assembly line worker and at Morningside Health Care Center as a housekeeper.

Joanne was united in marriage to Robert Gesch in 1961 in Sheboygan. 

Joanne was a member of St. Peter Claver Church. She enjoyed local bingo games, taking the “Bingo Bus” to Oneida every Monday, and roller-skating during her high school years. Joanne selflessly dedicated over 19 years of her life to the care of her mentally and physically challenged son and was especially grateful to his teachers and the staff at James Madison Elementary School for their commitment and support.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Janell (Gesch) Ludwigson and Lori Gesch; and granddaughter, Emily Ludwigson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Gesch Jr. and her parents.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
