Joanne Dawson

On Saturday, February 11, Joanne (Klabechek) Dawson, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 78. Joni was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. 

Joni was born to John and Darlene (Franke) Klabechek on May 10, 1944 in Sheboygan. She grew up in a house full of love with 5 siblings. She graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1962. Her mischievousness nature started when she was a young child, and continued to the end when her final wish was granted for a brandy old fashioned sweet (thanks Jesse).

Joanne could typically be found trying a new recipe in the kitchen, playing slots, attending Red Hat events, enjoying monthly card nights, and spending time with the people she loved. Joni was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Joni’s greatest love was her family, and her children were proud to call her mom. 

Joanne was preceded in death by her daughter Dawn Dawson-Smith, her father John, mother Darlene, sister Judy Uhl, and brother Richard Klabechek.

Joanne is survived by her sons Danny (Michelle) Dawson of Sheboygan and Bill (Laurie) Dawson of Sheboygan Falls; grandchildren Austin (Liz), Cameron, Tyler, Danielle (Cody), Brianna, Kelsey and Ryan; great grandchild Dawson; siblings Jack (June), Jill (Bob) Callahan, and Mike (Karen); brother-in-law Leon Uhl; former husband Jim Dawson; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her Red Hat Ladies and dear friends, Catherine Harty and Agnes Soerens.

A celebration of Joni’s life will be held on Saturday, March 4. It will take place at Hops Haven Brew Haus, 1327 N. 14^th St. in Sheboygan from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
