Jerry D. TeStroete, 64, of Cedar Grove passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at his home while surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on July 11, 1952 in Sheboygan, son of Dale and Gloria (Beernink) TeStroete. Jerry graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1970. On April 16, 1988 he married Karla Knapp Cushman in Cedar Grove. Jerry was an over the road trucker for over 43 years before his retirement from Trailer Transit in February 2016. Jerry was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. He was a Christmas enthusiast, loving the music of the season and was known for his elaborate Christmas light displays. Being a devoted trucker he loved the shiny glisten of lights and chrome. He cherished his family. Jerry is survived by his wife of 28years, Karla; his mother, Gloria TeStroete, of Cedar Grove; three daughters, DeAnne (Steven Daugherty) Cushman of Wichita, KS, Valerie (Jason) Nelson of Adams, and Michelle TeStroete of Cedar Grove; one son, Paul (Molly) Cushman of Oostburg; four grandchildren, Aubrey, Ally and Zachary Nelson, Quinn Cushman; four sisters, Barbara Watry of Belgium, Karen (Brian) Klos of Cedar Grove, Sandy (Tom) Martino of Greenfield, and Betty (Mark) Lorge of Cedar Grove; one brother, Larry (Mary) TeStroete of Manitowoc; his mother-in-law, Betty Knapp of Cedar Grove; a sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Dale TeStroete; father-in-law, Bill Knapp; and a brother-in-law, Chris Watry. Funeral services to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at 11 am on Thursday August 25, 2016 at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with Rev. Al Schut officiating. Family and friends may gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday from 4-8 pm, and on Thursday, at church from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am. A memorial fund has been established in Jerry's name.
