Jeffrey Lee Gahagan

Jeffrey L. Gahagan, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center-Sheboygan. He was 72 years old.

Jeffrey was born July 6, 1952, in Plymouth, the son of Morris and Marjorie Adermann Gahagan. He grew up in Sheboygan and attended South High School.

On September 24, 1988, he was united in marriage with Cheri Nyenhuis.

 For over 20 years, the couple was familiar faces in Sheboygan as the owner and operators of Zieggys and later Scenic Bar, along with John Seidlitz. He always looked forward to the annual bar golf tournament, and the celebration that followed. 

 Jeff was an avid sports fan, especially football and college football. He enjoyed annual trips to Las Vegas, playing golf, weekend breakfast get togethers with close friends, and family poker nights. He was known for spinning a tale or two, and his legendary bean soup.

 Jeff is survived by his wife Cheri, daughter Tracy (Randy) Johannsen of Moline, IL; brother Patrick (Patty) Gahagan; sisters Pam (Tony) Reinert and Kay Gonzalez (Mike Davidson); sisters-in-law Mary Jo (Gary) Velier and Carol Gahagan; brothers-in-law Bruce “Ed” (Sue) Nyenhuis and Brian (Debbie) Nyenhuis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law John and Joyce Nyenhuis, brother Michael Gahagan and nephew Brad Gonzalez.

 Funeral Services celebrating Jeff’s life will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Wenig Funeral Home, 108 Center Ave. in Oostburg. All are welcome to view a livestream of the funeral on Jeff’s obituary page at www.wenigfh.com . The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00AM-11:00AM. Jeff will be laid to rest at Hartman Cemetery in Oostburg. 

 Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association in Jeff’s name.
