Jeanette DenHollander

Jeanette Den Hollander, 96, formerly of Oostburg, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Cedar Grove Gardens. Jeanette was born August 12, 1914 in the Town of Holland to Garrett and Jennie (VerVelde) Veldboom. On July 5, 1934 she married Jacob Potter. Jacob passed away August 5, 1943. On July 12, 1946 Jeanette married Ellsworth Den Hollander in Oostburg. Ellsworth passed away March 8, 1986. Before her marriage to Jacob she worked at the Raincoat Factory in Oostburg. After her marriages, she continued to work part-time as a clerk at Wykhuis Grocery in Oostburg. Jeanette was member of First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg, where she was involved with Martha Society. For many years Jeanette was involved with the Oostburg Christian School Circle. She was an excellent needle worker and crafter. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and wintering with friends in Florida. Jeanette is survived by: four children, Gerry (Carl) Vander Ploeg of Oostburg, Marvin (Beverly) Potter of Oostburg, Glenn (Sally) Den Hollander of Sheboygan, Jean (Larry) Lukens of Cedar Grove; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Willis Veldboom of Oostburg; one sister-in-law, Lucille Veldboom of Oostburg; one brother-in-law, Fred (Marge) Menzer of Sheboygan; other relatives and friends. Jeanette was preceded in death by her: parents; husbands Jacob and Ellsworth; two infant grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Menzer, Evelyn Theune, Bertha DeZoute; three brothers, John, Harry, and Elmer Veldboom. Funeral services to celebrate Jeanette's life will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg with Rev. Dr. Les Kuiper officiating. Interment will be in Oostburg Cemetery, Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Jeanette's name for First Christian Reformed Church.
