Jean Rasmussen

Jean M. Rasmussen, 91, of Sheboygan Falls, entered through the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Prairie Crossing Assisted Living with her family by her side. Jean was born on August 31, 1925, in Marshfield, WI, daughter of Claudia DeMunck. She was a 1943 graduate of Plymouth High School. On July 17, 1948, she married Howard A. Rasmussen in Plymouth. Jean was employed as a finger print technician for the FBI. She was then employed by Wolf's Laundry, and Fasse Paint from 1972 until her retirement in 1989. Jean was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she served on the Altar Guild and as church secretary. Jean enjoyed baking, polka music, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Jean is survived by her husband of 68 years, Howard; her two daughters, Kris (John) Mersberger of Plymouth and Denise (Steve) Kania of Franklin; six grandchildren, Michelle (Brad) Shutter of Plymouth, Gina (Larry) Kettle of Sheboygan, Ann (Ben) Fahrenholz of West Bend, Adam Kania of Hamburg, Germany, Nick Kania of Somerset, WI, and Dan Kania of Cudahy; nine great-grandchildren, Alex, Sam, Jake, and Brett Shutter, Andrew and Tre Kettle, and Ava, Jed, and Jax Fahrenholz; and one sister-in-law, Carol DeMunck. Jean is further survived by nieces and nephew, other relatives, and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Claudia DeMunck; three sisters, Phyllis DeMunck, Lorayne Bouchette, and Bets Siebert; two brothers, Virgil DeMunck and William DeMunck; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 11:30 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Jean's name for St. Paul Lutheran Church and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staffs of Prairie Crossing and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the dedicated and heartfelt care. The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home of Sheboygan Falls (920-467-3431) is assisting Jean's family with arrangements.
