Janice Posner

Janice V. Posner, 89, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Countryside Manor in the Town of Sheboygan. Janice was born on April 22, 1923, in Sheboygan, daughter of William and Adella (Schort) Verhulst. She was a 1941 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. On June 16, 1943, she married Howard A. Posner in Sheboygan Falls. Howard preceded her in death on January 19, 2007. Janice was employed as a secretary for Sheboygan County Office of Aging for ten years until her retirement in 1985. She previously worked for J.S. Richardson, Sheboygan Falls High School, and Citizens Bank in Sheboygan Falls. Janice was a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she sang in the choir, was active in the Rebekkah Circle and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Janice is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Thomas) Dumdie of Sheboygan; one son, Ken (Kathleen) Posner of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Debbie Dedering, Michael Dumdie, and Michelle Bowhousen; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Dedering, Caroline Dumdie, and Faith and Paige Bowhousen; and one niece, Diane (Larry) Hackbarth of Sheboygan Falls. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Howard; one great-grandson, Shane Bowhousen; her twin sister, Jeanette (Melvin Trempe and Roman Sprangers) Sprangers; and her nephew, David Trempe. Funeral services to celebrate Janice's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Donald Drollinger officiating. Burial will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. A memorial fund has been established in Janice's name for Faith United Methodist Church.
