Janet Nyenhuis

Janet M. Nyenhuis, 64, of Sheboygan, peacefully was welcomed and embraced into the arms of Jesus on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Pine Haven Residential Home in Sheboygan Falls, following an 18 month battle with cancer. Janet was born on June 29, 1951, in Sheboygan, daughter of Henry and Mary (DeLong) Meier. She was a 1969 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School and attended Green Bay Cosmetology School. On May 15, 1971, she married Steven B. Nyenhuis in Oostburg. Steven preceded her in death on June 8, 2013. Janet was employed as a cook for 30 years, being employed at Meadowview Manor, Sheboygan Senior Community, and Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. She also worked as a beautician for 8 years. Janet was a member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan and was active in the Bible study group. She enjoyed music, playing the guitar, walking, gardening, and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. She enjoyed spending time with her dog, Riley. Janet is survived her two sisters, Ann Marie (Bill Kolb) Linn of Sheboygan Falls and Jeanne (Jerry) Davies of Oostburg; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wilbert and Elsie Nyenhuis of Oostburg; two sisters-in-law, Susan (Al) Gross of Elkhart Lake and Jennifer (Brian) Gabrielse of Madison; one brother-in-law, Tom (Sandy) Nyenhuis of Menomonee Falls; and 15 nieces and nephews, Ron (Wendy) Den Boer, Lisa (Gary) Collins, Jackie (Joel) Daane, Joel (Jo Ann) Davies, Jill (Bill) Haag, Jessica (Nathan) Weavers, Jeffrey (Marcy) Davies, John (Debbie) Nyenhuis, Jason (Stacy) Nyenhuis, Katy Bonwell, Jessica (Chris) Kolff, Amy Gross, Stephanie (Heath) Clark, Jeffrey (Chelsea) Gabrielse, and Kimberly Gabrielse. Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Steven, her parents, and brother-in-law, Dewey Linn. Funeral services to celebrate Janet's life will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Grace OPC, 4930 Green Valley Lane in Sheboygan with Rev. Brian DeJong officiating. Burial will take place at Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Friday from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Janet's name for Grace OPC and Pine Haven Christian Communities.
