Janet Daane Janet Daane, 91, formerly of Oostburg, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, morning, December 6, 2009 while residing at Pine Haven Christian Residential Home where she lived for the past six years. Janet was born on August 23, 1918 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (TeLindert) Theune. She attended Lakeview School in the Town of Holland. On October 20, 1940 she married the late Willard Daane in Oostburg. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2004. Janet was a charter member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg and the Ladies Society. She also volunteered at church on the funeral committee, Bible School and with the Oostburg Christian School Circle. Janet was a devoted homemaker and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, playing cards, and needlework. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara VanSluys of Oostburg; two sons, Richard (Judy) Daane and Ronald (Sue) Daane, both of Oostburg; nine grandchildren, Becky (Dave) Thone, Stacy (Al) DeGroot, Amy (fiancé Hugh Murtha) VanSluys, Nicole VanSluys, Julie (Carl) TeBeest, Michael (Cathy) Daane, Patricia (Craig) Farrell, Dawn (Matt) Faust, and Jeff (Leah) Daane; 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one sister, Margaret (Harry) Neustel of Hingham; two brothers, Warren (Mary) Theune and Marvin (Delores) Theune, both of Oostburg; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Theune of Oostburg and Dorothy Daane of Gibbsville. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, Ruth (Ray) Otte, four brothers, Ike, Ray (Evelyn), Les, and Donald Theune; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Theune and Lucille (Delmar) Dana; and one brother-in-law, Lester Daane. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 10:30 am with the Rev. John Tinsley officiating. A family service will precede at 10:15 am in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Oostburg Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 4-8 pm, and on Wednesday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
