Janet Bloemers

Janet L. Bloemers, 95, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home and formerly of Oostburg, passed away on Friday morning, February 19, 2010. Janet was born on July 8, 1914 in the Town of Holland, daughter of the late John and Mary (Theune) Van Ess. She was a 1932 graduate of Oostburg High School. On September 3, 1936 she married Lester G. Bloemers in the Town of Holland. Lester preceded her in death on October 20, 1983. Janet was employed as a clerk with the Oostburg Post Office for 20 years until the time of her retirement in 1976. Janet was a charter member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Women's Circle and also a member of the choir. Janet enjoyed, cooking, knitting, gardening, playing cards with friends, playing cribbage with her husband, her trips to Florida and fishing trips to Canada with her husband and family. Janet will always be remembered as a Godly loving woman as described in Proverbs 31. Survivors include three sons, Roger (Kathy) Bloemers of Wausau, Richard (Diane) Bloemers of Brown Deer, and Edward (Rosanne) Bloemers of Oostburg; son-in-law, Robert Hilbelink of Sioux Center, IA; two sisters, Lenore LeMahieu of Oostburg and Margaret (Erv) Hendrikse of Oostburg; one brother, Lloyd (Helen) Van Ess of Waupun; twelve grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; four sister-in-laws, Helen Van Ess of Plymouth, Donna Van Ess of Oostburg, Nelda Van Ess of Oostburg, and Sue Ann Van Ess of Oostburg. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, one daughter, Nancy Hilbelink, a sister, Lorretta Te Stroote, five brothers, James, Carl, Robert, Isaac, and Howard Van Ess. Funeral Services for Janet will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel OPC in Oostburg with the Rev. John Tinsley officiating. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Friends may call Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg. A memorial fund has been established in Janet's name for mission work.
