James A. Mills, 61, of Oostburg died at his home on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 following a three month battle with cancer. Jim wanted God's will for his life. He was at peace whether he was healed here on earth or whether he would be called home to his Savior. Jim was born on June 1, 1953 in Sheboygan, the son of Harold and Elizabeth (Strade) Mills. Jim graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1971. On October 5, 1974 he married Mary VandeWall in Cedar Grove. Jim was a buyer for Alliant Energy for 25 years until the time of his retirement in 2014. Jim was a member of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg where he served as an usher and a Trinidad Iglesias volunteer. Jim enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting, camping, yardwork, wood cutting, and traveling. He also enjoyed playing cards, sports, and Civil War history. Jim cherished the time he could spend with his family. Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary; one daughter, Amber (Ken) Johnson of Fishers, IN; two sons, Jason (Nikki) Mills of Hingham and Luke (Krystle) Mills of Oostburg; eight grandchildren, Makenzee, Kenley, and Deaken Johnson, Caleb, Levi, Malachi Mills, Ellodie and Blayke Mills; two sisters, Mary (Roger) Kabelowsky of Manitowoc, and Sharon (Dan) Dvorak of Hartford; his mother-in-law, Hazel VandeWall of Cedar Grove; a sister-in-law, Anne (Paul) Koeppe of Cross Plains; a brother-in-law, Lee (Linda) VandeWall of Oostburg; nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by the Abitz-Johnson Family of Kohler and many other dear friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold (Marge) Mills and Frank (Alice) Mills; and his father-in-law, Phil VandeWall. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will take place at 2pm on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Friday from 3-8 pm, and on Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the service at 2 pm.
