James "Jim" W. Esser, 79, of Sheboygan, went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center. Jim was born on November 3, 1935, in Sheboygan, son of Dr. William J. and Royalin (Hargesheimer) Esser. He was a 1953 graduate of Sheboygan North High School and attended Lakeland College. James served in the US Marine Corp. from 1954-1956. He was employed as a buyer for H.C. Prange Co. Jim was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Sheboygan, where he served as a Greeter and attended a men's Bible study. He raised Golden Retrievers and was gifted in woodworking. Jim enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing, and his life-long relationships with two special friends from high school. While on a visit to Colorado in November of 2011, Jim came to know his Lord and Savior. He then became an avid reader and enjoyed sharing his faith with anyone that would listen. Over the past few years, Jim enjoyed several trips to Colorado to visit with his daughter and her family. A special memory is hanging Christmas lights with his son-in-law, Todd. Jim was a proud father and grandfather that cherished the memories they had shared over the past few years. Jim is survived by his daughter, Barb (Todd) Anderson of Monument, CO; four grandchildren, Ariana, Katelyn, Claire, and Noah Anderson; his sister, Bette Van Der Puy of Sheboygan; and his former wife and friend, Nancy Veenendaal of Sheboygan. Jim is further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Barbara Scherer, and two nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Jon MacDonald officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 2:00 pm until to the time of the service at 3:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Jim's name for the Evangelical Free Church.
