James Carey

James F. "Jim" Carey, 73, of Wadsworth, Ohio and a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls for the past four years died on Friday evening, August 17, 2012. Jim was born on August 29, 1938 in Washington, PA, the son of the late Franklin B. and Mary C. (McCurry) Carey. Jim graduated from Rayen High School in Youngstown, OH in 1956 and Youngstown University where he received a degree in Business Administration. Jim served in the US Army National Guard from 1957-65. On April 15, 1967 he married the late Jean Houck in Barberton, OH. Jean preceded Jim in death on July 22, 2000. Jim was a sales representative for the Farley Co. in Akron, OH for over 30 years before his retirement in 2003. Jim was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth, OH and the Barberton Kiwanis Club. Jim was an avid golfer, and enjoyed following current events on Fox News. Jim was a very social person who enjoyed visiting with people. His wonderful sense of humor will be missed. He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen (Dante) Badia of Warner Robins, GA; two sons, Michael (Cary) Carey of Kohler, WI and Daniel (Erin) Carey of Portsmouth, VA; ten grandchildren, Marissa, Nicholas, Ethan, and Jack Badia, Dominic, Hugh, Brendan and Genevieve Carey, and Callahan and Leila Carey; one brother, Ronald (Harriet) Carey of Muncie, IN; and one sister-in-law, Nancy Houck of Wadsworth, OH. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; one sister, Joyce (Charles) Crocket; and one brother-in-law, James Houck. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Wadsworth, OH at 11 am on Friday, August 24, 2012. Visitation will be held at the Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home in Wadsworth, OH on Thursday from 4-8 pm. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, OH. In lieu of flowers, Mass stipends may be directed to a Catholic Church of your choice or may be sent directly to the family.
