James F. "Jim-Yogi" Bayer, 78, of Sheboygan Falls, died peacefully on Thursday night, August 11, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. Jim was born on June 10, 1938 in Burlington, the son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Voss) Bayer. On August 16, 1958 he married Barbara Dolgner in Random Lake. Jim worked at Bemis for 45 years before his retirement in 2002. Jim was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. He enjoyed playing cribbage and sheepshead, Farkle, mowing lawn, working on his hobby farm, going to Oneida, and going for car rides. He cherished the time he could spend with his family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; three daughters, Cindy (David) Dassow of Plymouth, Teri (Tom) Gottowski of Manitowoc, Dawn (Rudy) Thimmig of Sheboygan Falls; two sons, James (Debbie) Bayer of Sheboygan Falls, and Jeffrey (Julie) Bayer of Sheboygan; 16 grandchildren, Mandy (Josh) Hermann, Corey (Nicole) Dassow, Branden (Tara) Kuehl, Jennifer Gottowski, Christopher Gottowski, Hailey (Jordan) Thimmig, Mitchell Thimmig, Devin Bayer, Conner Bayer, Mackenzie Ryan, Ben Cichocki, Christine and Sarah Horness, Jackson, Avery, and Sebastian Bayer; three great grandchildren, Ellie and Zoie Hermann, Morgan Gottowski; three sisters, a twin, Joyce (Bob) Lubner of Fredonia, Lorraine Lange of Fredonia and Shirley Berndt of Burlington; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Cody James Kuehl; two brothers, Ardell (Glendora) and Orville (Vernita) Bayer; and three brothers-in-law, Victor Lubner, Albert Lange and Donald Berndt. A funeral to celebrate Jim's life will take place at St Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 10:30 am with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson. Family and friends may gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Monday from 4-8 pm, and on Tuesday, at church. from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
