James "Jim" Harvey Baalke, 83, of Sheboygan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, surrounded by his family. Jim was born on October 2, 1934, in Sheboygan to Harvey and Amanda (Nix) Baalke. He was a 1952 graduate of Central High School in Sheboygan. Jim served his country in the United States Army for two years. On August 11, 1956, Jim married Kathleen Verhage in Sheboygan. Jim was employed at Kohler Company for over 40 years as a Brass Buffer until his retirement in 1997. Jim was a member of Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, where he served as an elder and deacon, and taught multiple Bible studies at church and home. Jim was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting. Jim is survived by his wife, Kathleen Baalke of Sheboygan; two sons, Paul (Nancy) Baalke of Sheboygan, John (Gabrielle) Baalke of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, Jason (friend Katie) Baalke, Stephanie (David) Zaganiacz, Silas (Ellen) Baalke, Uriah (friend Stav) Baalke, Caitlin Baalke, Claire-Elise Baalke, Brendan Baalke; brother, Robert Baalke; three sisters-in-law, Sherry Baalke, Joyce Dekker, and Phyllis Kussard. Jim was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Baalke; two brothers-in-laws, Jacob Dekker, and Clarence Kussard; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward (Classina) Verhage. A funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 6:30pm at the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Dr. Gary Hylander officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may greet the family at Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 3:30 pm until the time of service at 6:30 pm. A memorial fund is being established in his name for the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
