Ivan J. Molter, 84, of Cedar Grove died on Tuesday morning, August 31, 2010 at the Cedar Grove Gardens where he had resided the past two years. Ivan was born in Cedar Grove on May 17, 1926, the son of the late Herbert and Phoebe (Meengs) Molter. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1944, attended Hope College, and graduated with a BS in Physical Education from UW-LaCrosse. Ivan served his country in the US Army Air Force from 1944-46. On November 1, 1951 he married the late Annette Hoftiezer in Cedar Grove. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1994. Ivan was a physical education, math and science teacher at Stockbridge High School from 1951-55 and then at Cedar Grove High School from 1955 until his retirement in 1989. While there he also coached various sports including football, track, baseball and was a longtime basketball coach. While coaching baseball he attained an impressive record of 45 consecutive wins and while coaching basketball attained a winning record of 313-131. He was a longtime member at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a trustee. Ivan was an Eagle Scout and past member of the American Legion. He enjoyed sports, bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and carving. Ivan is survived by one daughter, Joan (Dale) Meeusen of Cedar Grove; three sons, David (Sandy) Molter of Elm Grove, Dan (Lynn) Molter of Cedar Grove, and James (Jill) Molter of Oostburg; 11 grandchildren, Laura (TJ) Hendrikse, Holly (Kevin) Kiel, Heidi (Matt) Moeller, Paul (Stephanie) Meeusen, Allison (Dr. Alex) Feix, Alex, Lauren, Michael, Katie, Justin, and Jordan Molter; seven great grandchildren, Zach, Tanner, Justin, and Madison Hendrikse, Jackson and Brody Kiel, and Levi Moeller; one sister, Joyce Martin of Escondido, CA; one brother, Carl Molter of Belleville, four sisters-in-law, Delores Molter of Menomonee Falls, LaVerne Lemmenes of Cedar Grove, Marjorie Hoftiezer of Illinois, and Myrtle Hoftiezer of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette; and one brother, Stanley Molter. Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 10:30 am with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial will take place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 4-8 pm, and on Saturday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
