Irene Westera

Irene Bernice Westera, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.Irene (Noetzelman) Westera was born on September 18, 1924, in Lewellen, NE to Edward and Rebecca (Schwader) Noetzelman. She was a 1942 graduate of Lewellen High School.On August 12, 1944, Irene married John Westera in Harlingen, TX. In the early 1950's, Irene and her husband moved to Sheboygan where they resided until 1968, when they purchased a grocery store, "The Store", in Lewellen, NE. Irene is survived by her daughter, Karen Lewis of Sheboygan; a son, William (Judith) Westera of Sheboygan Falls; five Grandchildren, Pamela Westera, Garrett (Doreen) Westera, Cari (Aaron) Anger, Kimberly Lewis; and three Great-Grandchildren, Jason Anger, Ryan Anger, and Ashlin Westera.Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, John Cornelius Westera; a grandson, Tom Lewis; a son-in-law, James Lewis; three sisters, Louise Lilyhorn, Frieda Winters, Alma Sprow; and a brother, Rudolph "Sonnie" Noetzelman.A private inurnment will be held in Nebraska at a later date.A memorial fund is being established in her name for Sharon S.
