Irene Arndt

Irene F. Arndt, 87, of Sheboygan Falls passed away peacefully in her sleep while at her home on Saturday morning, March 17, 2012 following a battle with dementia. Irene was born on May 9, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Bernhard and Alma Regina (Johanson) Kempe. She graduated from high school in Chicago. On August 12, 1944 Irene was united in marriage to Ralph Charles Arndt in Chicago. They lived in Chicago and then Niles, IL, until 1987 when they relocated to Sheboygan Falls, to be closer to their son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Irene was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Park Ridge, Illinois. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Irene enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, baking, sewing, needlepoint, golf, bowling and traveling. Irene is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ralph of Sheboygan Falls; one son, Roger (Deborah) Arndt of Sheboygan Falls; three grandchildren, Megan (Steve) Boss of Oostburg, Joshua (fiancé Stephanie) Arndt and Jonathan Arndt, both of Sheboygan Falls. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Irene was preceded in death by five sisters, Gertrude (Everett) Anderson, Agnes Kempe, Alice (Jim) Will, Ruth (Frank) Ryser, and Lillian (Frank) Johnson. A private family service to celebrate Irene's life will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls. Burial will take place at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
