Howard L. TeBeest, 71, of N2106 Gibbons Road, Oostburg, died peacefully at his home with his family on Tuesday morning, August 21, 2007 following a month long cancer illness. Howard was born in the Town of Holland, on February 24, 1936, the son of Abram TeBeest and the late Cora (Kranendonk) TeBeest. Howard graduated from Oostburg High School in 1954 and later attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. He served in the US Army from 1954-56. On May 10, 1958, he married Janet Kappers in Oostburg. Howard was a construction electrician for many years working at various firms in Sheboygan and Milwaukee before his retirement in 1999. Howard was also a Boy Scout leader, Snowmobile Safety Instructor, and an electrical instructor at MATC in Mequon. Howard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg where he had served as a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and participated in numerous mission and work projects. Howard was devoted to his church and to his faith, always willing to share with others the hope and joy that Christ brought to him. He loved his family dearly; always trying to attend as many of their sporting, church, and school events as possible. He was known as a compassionate and encouraging person; with quiet wisdom, reason and logic. Children and youth were always drawn to him. He was content with what he had and shared generously with others in need. He was a pilot, and enjoyed boating, canoeing, snow and water skiing, bicycling, snowmobiling, traveling and doing remodeling projects. He looked forward to having coffee with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Janet; three daughters, Becky (Patrick) Connor of Bloomington, IN, Sally (Jeff) Prinsen of Oostburg, Amy (friend Andy Nelson)TeBeest of Eau Claire; two sons, Jim (Nancy) TeBeest of Oostburg and Tom (Angi) TeBeest of Brandon; his father, Abe TeBeest of Gibbsville; eleven grandchildren, Joshua, Kelsey, and Matthew TeBeest, Megan, Mollie, and Erin Connor, Nathan and Ryan Prinsen, Jordyn, Kendra, and Caleb TeBeest; two sisters, Edith (Chuck) Daane of Oostburg; and Carolyn Fuhr of Grafton; one brother, Ken (Lynne) TeBeest of Gibbsville; one sister-in-law Virginia TeBeest of Delanco, NJ. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Cora TeBeest; one brother, Roger TeBeest; two nephews, an infant and Tim Daane; and his parents-in-law, Edward and Nellie Kappers. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg at 1:30 pm, on Friday, August 24, 2007 with the Revs. Paul J.Van Loon and Walter Hackney officiating. A family service will precede in the fellowship hall at 1:15 pm. Burial will follow at Oostburg Cemetery.
