Howard Payne

Howard E. Payne Howard E. Payne, 93, of Sheboygan Falls died on Monday afternoon, October 27, 2008 at Pine Haven Christian Home. Howard was born on July 10, 1915 in the Town of Mitchell, the son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Swain) Payne. He graduated from Plymouth High School and the Sheboygan County Normal School. Howard married the late Caroline Hoffman on July 10, 1940 in Sheboygan Falls. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2001. Howard worked for the Kohler Co. for over 40 years before his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls and the Kohler Quarter Century Club. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Jeffrey) Kirby of Champaign, IL and Mary Payne of Sheboygan Falls; two sons, David (Gerri) Payne of Helena, MT and John Payne of Sheboygan; one grandson, Eric Kirby of Minneapolis, MN; and three sisters-in-law, Ruth Payne of Sheboygan Falls, Betty Payne of the Town of Mitchell, and Betty Ann Huebner of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline; an infant son; and three brothers, Forrest, Clark and Kenneth Payne. A Memorial Mass will take place at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 1, 2008 with the Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on the family at Blessed Trinity Parish on Saturday from 9:30-11:30 am. A memorial fund is being established in Howard's name. The family would like to thank the staff of the Pine Haven Christian Home for their excellent care. The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls (920-467-3431) is serving the Payne family.
