Hilda Gerber

Hilda E. Gerber, 69, of Sheboygan, passed away on Friday morning, September 28, 2012, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Hilda was born on September 4, 1943, in Nartas, Lithuania, daughter of Emil and Elma (Torunski) Hirsch. She was a 1962 graduate of Sheboygan South High School and graduated from Lakeshore Technical College. On December 21, 1963, she married Donald Gerber in Sheboygan. Hilda was an administrative Assistant for Jos. Schmitt & Sons Construction for 20 years until her retirement in 2009. She worked at Security First National Bank prior to her marriage. Hilda was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, where she served on the Board of Social Ministry. She enjoyed her Canasta Club, cooking, and baking. Hilda had a great love and pride for her family. Her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with her children and grandchildren and the times spent with her family and friends. Hilda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald. Hilda is the beloved mother to Debbie (Eric) Rasmussen of Cedarburg and David (Jill) Gerber of Elkhorn; loving grandmother to Ryan and Evan Rasmussen, and Ben and Griffin Gerber; dear sister to Linda Krohn of Germantown; niece of Emma Hirsch of Onalaska. Hilda is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. Hilda will always be remembered for her kind giving heart, beautiful smile, and wonderful way of making everyone feel special. She will be dearly missed and will always be in our hearts. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, and cousins; Withold Hirsch and Thomas Torunski. Funeral services to celebrate Hilda's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan with Rev. Jim Hartman officiating. Entombment will take place at Garden Terrace Mausoleum in Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10:30 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established in Hilda's name for Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
