Herbert August Inselman

Herbert "Herb" A. Inselman, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Pine Haven Christian Communities - Sheboygan Falls.

He was born on December 8, 1933, in Leeds, Wisconsin to Frederick and Bertha (Falkenstein) Inselman. He graduated from Poynette High School in 1952 before attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. On September 6, 1958, he married Lois Butzlaff in Portage, Wisconsin. Herb served in the United States Army for two years, including a tour of duty during the Korean War. He spent 38 years working as a fieldman for Dean Foods in Cedar Grove, retiring in 1996. In addition, Herb worked as an insurance agent with Holland Mutual Fire Insurance Company for 42 years. He also worked part-time at Dirkse's Piggly Wiggly.

A dedicated member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, Herb served as a Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer. He was also an active volunteer in his community, serving on the Village of Cedar Grove Board, the Sheboygan County Christian High School Board, the Cedar Grove Cemetery Association, and as a proud member of the Cedar Grove American Legion. Herb had the privilege of participating in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight with his daughter Diane in 2015. Herb had a variety of hobbies, including golfing, bowling, gardening, fishing, and a passion for sports. Above all, he cherished spending time with his loving family.

Herb is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lois; daughters, Diane (Kurt) Rubsam of Oostburg, WI and Barb VanStelle of Howards Grove, WI; son, Doug Inselman of Cedar Grove, WI; grandchildren Jeff (Jacqui) Rubsam, Stephanie Rubsam, Jacob (Kalysta) Rubsam, Matthew Rubsam, Amy VanderWaal, Angela (Walter Sr.) Brendel, Jennifer (Donnie) Roethel, and Nick (Samantha) VanStelle; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Frederick Inselman, Jr. of Arlington, WI, and other extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Frank and Mildred Butzlaff, nephew David Inselman, and sister-in-law Dorothy Inselman.

Funeral Services will be held at First Reformed Church, 237 S. Main Street, Cedar Grove, WI on April 22, 2025, at 1:00pm with Pastor Henry Bradford officiating. Friends and family may greet for a time of visitation at church from 10:00am until the time of service. Herb will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, or Cedar Grove Cemetery.
