Helen Wilterdink

Helen H. Wilterdink, 92, formerly of Cedar Grove died on Wednesday morning, March 4, 2009 at the Gables on the Pond in Random Lake where she had lived for the past year. Helen was born on March 19, 1916 in the Town of Lyndon, the daughter of the late Arthur and Cora (VanEss) Harrison. She attended the Roosevelt School in the Town of Lyndon, graduated from Waldo High School in 1934, and from the Sheboygan County Normal School in 1936. On March 16, 1941 she married the late Arthur Wilterdink in the Town of Lyndon. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1997. She was a school teacher at the Banner School in the Town of Lyndon and Hillcrest School in the Town of Lima for several years. Helen was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo. She enjoyed gardening, reading, following the Green Bay Packers, and attending her grandchildren's school and church activities. Helen is survived by one daughter, Judith (Edward) DePagter of Oostburg, three sons, James (Karen) Wilterdink of Hingham, Duane (Mary) Wilterdink of Centennial, Colorado, and Donald (Lynn) Wilterdink of Sheboygan Falls; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one brother, George Harrison of Oostburg; and one sister-in-law, Arlyle Harrison of Oostburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; a daughter, Elizabeth Wilterdink; a grandson, Aaron Wilterdink; and two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Harrison. Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo at 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2009 with the Rev. Jeremy Deaner officiating. Burial will take place at the Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima following the lunch. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 4-8 pm, and at church, on Saturday from 11:30 am until the time of the service.
