Helen Simmelink

Helen E. Simmelink, 99, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014, at Cedar Grove Gardens. Helen was born on March 13, 1915, in Cedar Grove, daughter of Isaac and Hattie (Walford) Marsielje. She attended Wisconsin Memorial Academy. On October 10, 1934, she married Edward G. Simmelink in the Town of Holland. Edward passed away on May 1, 2006. Helen worked for Musebeck Shoe Company. Helen attended First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. She enjoyed making Christmas ornaments, needle point and gardening. Helen is survived by her son Robert (Jane) Simmelink of San Jacinto, CA; two grandchildren, Robert (Mary Lou) Simmelink of Milwaukee and Karen (David) Anderson of California; two great-grandchildren, Brynn and Rylie Anderson. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 71 years, Edward, and her sister, Dorothy Lorenz. Funeral services to celebrate Helen's life will be held at 11am on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with Rev. Joe Brath officiating. Burial will take place in Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, AZ. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30am on Monday until the time of service at 11am. A memorial fund has been established in Helen's name for CBN 700 Club (Christian Broadcasting Network).
