Helen L. Shank, age 89, of Sheboygan Falls passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Helen was born December 30, 1926, in Fond du Lac, WI, the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Margaret M. Roble Sullivan. She graduated from Goodrich High School, Fond du Lac, WI, in 1944 and attended classes at Marian University. On August 28, 1948, Helen was joined in marriage to Jerome H. Shank at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac, WI. Her husband preceded her in death on July 29, 2012. Before dedicating most of her life to taking care of her husband, five children and several foster children, Helen worked at Fond du Lac Concrete Products, Fond du Lac, WI and Ray-O-Vac, Madison, WI. Later on she worked for Sears in Sheboygan, WI. Helen was a member of St. John Evangelist Parish in Kohler. She enjoyed quilting for the Mission Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's Charity Club and the Elkhart Lake Mad Hatters Ladies Group. She served as a volunteer at the Sheboygan Falls Food Pantry and the Red Cross Blood Drive. Helen dearly loved and enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband, Jerry. Her other interests included camping, playing cards, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, quilting, and spending time at her computer. Helen is survived by two daughters, Christine (David) Papke of Hokah, MN, and Kathleen of Sheboygan Falls; three sons, Michael (Jacque) of Lyons, CO, Kevin (Laura) of Sheboygan, WI and Stephen (Theresa) of Abilene, KS; eleven grandchildren, Beth (Matt) Moore, Amy (Terry) Atwood, Josh VandeBerg, Sarah Papke, Stephen Papke, Jack Papke, Jessica (Mike) Coppom, Jamie Shank, Michelle (Gabor)Boczonadi, Ariana Shank and Aidan Shank; and six great grandchildren. Other survivors include a foster daughter, Lorraine (Glenn) Gross of Sheboygan; four brothers, Raymond (Peggy) Sullivan of Wauwatosa, WI, David (Patricia) Sullivan of Fond du Lac, WI, Jack (Judy) Sullivan of Henderson, NV and Frank of West Bend, WI; two sisters, Gen Sullivan of Fond du Lac, WI, Catherine Kocs of Delavan, WI, a sister-in-law Mary Sullivan of Westfield, IN and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, granddaughter Lisa Catherine Papke, brother Thomas R. Sullivan, sisters Dorothy Prochnow and Margaret Thurman, sisters-in-law Kathryn Sullivan and Beverly Sullivan; brothers-in-law Gordon Prochnow, Eugene Kocs and John Thurman, and two nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, Kohler, WI on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Entombment will be in Garden of Peace Mausoleum, Greenlawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 9am until the time of Mass. A memorial fund has been established in Helen's name. Helen's family would like to express a special thank you to the caregivers and staff a Pine Haven Covenant Home and St. Nicholas Hospice.
