Helen W. Leynse, 91, of Oostburg, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Pine Haven Covenant Home in Sheboygan Falls where she resided for the past two years. Helen was born on November 30, 1922 in the Town of Lima, the daughter of the late Anthony and Jenny (Reimes) Lammers. She attended Hingham School. On May 1, 1947, she married John Leynse in Hingham. John preceded her in death on November 21, 2004 following 57 years of marriage. Helen was an active lifelong member of Hingham Reformed Church and served as a pianist, sang in the choir and was involved with various women and church ministries. She was also a 4-H leader for many years and a member of the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau. Helen enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, baking, board games and playing the piano. Helen is survived by her five daughters, Mary (Paul) DeMaster of Oostburg, Ruth (Jeff) Hargreaves of Appleton, Lois (Anne Lowry) Leynse of Oakland, CA, Carol (Jim) Harpold of Oostburg, and Joann (Craig) DuMez of Brookfield; 13 grandchildren, Jon (Jennifer) DeMaster, Jenny (Robert) Gilbert, Anne Hargreaves, James Hargreaves, Jeffrey (Tina) Harpold, William Harpold, Matthew Harpold, Cari (Bob) Sonnefeldt, Connie (Mark) Dykstra, Kate DuMez, Samuel DuMez, Mary DuMez, Rachel DuMez; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian Wynveen of Cedar Grove; and one sister-in-law, Suzan Leynse of Sheboygan. Helen is also survived by other family members, Zachary Forster, numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John; one brother, Alfred (Javerna) Lammers, and one brother-in-law, Lloyd Wynveen. Funeral services to celebrate Helen's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Hingham Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 4-7 pm, and on Saturday, at church from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Helen's name for Pine Haven Christian Communities and the Hingham Reformed Church.
