Harvey H. "Harv" Fasse, age 87, of 231 Crestwood Drive, Sheboygan Falls, died at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a brief illness on Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Harvey H. Fasse was born on July 22, 1926 in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, the youngest of four children, to Rudolf and Emilie (Krueger) Fasse. He was baptized and confirmed at Saron UCC in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. He attended Prange Elementary School and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1944. After graduation he immediately enlisted in the USMC during World War ll and fought in the Battle of Okinawa with the First Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. After being hospitalized for six months in various hospitals he was honorably discharged in January of 1946. He met Ruth H. Ponath at a dance at Crystal Lake. On May 7, 1949, they were married at St Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and celebrated 64 years of marriage in 2013. He founded Fasse Paint and Decorating Company in 1963. Along with his wife, Ruth, they expanded the original company to include an automotive, aerosol and industrial line of products. He was known throughout the county for his expertise in color matching. In his high school year book, his art teacher wrote that his lifetime career would involve something to do with color... how right she was. After retirement at age 65, he continued to work in research and development of new products for Fasse Paint Co. At age 78, he developed a water and solvent base line of stain and called it Triclad, which is now being distributed throughout the United States. He has been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls since 1959, serving on the church council and various other committees. He was a 64 year member of the American Legion Post 149 of Sheboygan Falls, a 40 year member of the Sheboygan Falls Lions Club and also a member of the DAV. In 1975, Harvey and Ruth fulfilled a long time dream by building a cottage in Pembine, WI. Along with nurturing and maintaining it in prime condition, he and Ruth enjoyed entertaining their children, grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Snowmobiling, fishing, ATV rides and campfires were some of the things they enjoyed doing. The grandchildren all looked forward to spending time up north with their grandparents. Harvey and Ruth enjoyed traveling to many places throughout the country and world including Alaska, Germany, Italy, and their yearly winter vacation in Port St. Lucie, FL. Harvey's love of nature was expressed in the way he lovingly tended to his trees, plants and birds. No bird ever left his yard hungry. In September 2010, Harvey was extremely proud and excited to have participated in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington D.C., chaperoned by his son, Jim. Harvey was the First World War ll Veteran to be recognized for his service since initiating the Military Veterans program at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Harvey is survived by his loving wife Ruth of 64 ½ years, one son James (Karen) Fasse of Sheboygan Falls, two daughters Dr. Christal (Dr James) Daehnert of Laguna Beach, CA, Carrie (Stuart) Lutzke of Sheboygan, five grandchildren, Patrick (Claudine) Fasse, Elburn, IL, Dr. Trisha Fasse-Neerhof (Greg) of Greenbush, Dr. Jessica Daehnert-Denbo(Trevor) Laguna, CA, Kimberly Lutzke of Boston, MA, Brenda Lutzke (Fiancé Joshua Bintzler) Sheboygan; two great-granddaughters, Harper Ann Neerhof, Madeline Skye Fasse and two step great grandchildren, Jake and Nicki. Harvey will be dearly missed by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Emilie, one brother Willard and his wife Emily, two sisters and their spouses, Vernita and Arthur Anger, Loraine and Harvey Sebald, and many other close relatives and friends. A memorial service with Military Honors, to celebrate Harvey's life will be on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 5pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Cty Rd PPP in Sheboygan Falls with Pastor Tom Gudmundson officiating.
