Harold J. "PeeWee" TenHaken, 95 of Oostburg died on Saturday morning, March 11, 2017 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls where he had resided for the past nine years. PeeWee was born on June 29, 1921 in the Town of Holland, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Meylink) TenHaken. He was a 1939 graduate of Oostburg High School. PeeWee proudly served in the US Army during WWII from 1942-45. On December 27, 1946 he married Harriet J. Harmelink in Oostburg. Harriett preceded PeeWee in death on December 26, 2007 following 60 years of marriage. PeeWee was a mechanic at DeMaster's Garage in the Town of Holland for 18 years. He was co-owner at Verten's Sales in Oostburg and worked at Menzer Auto Supply in Sheboygan. PeeWee was a longtime member at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg and the American Legion Post #286. He enjoyed sports spectating, playing cards, golf, bowling, and going for coffee with the guys at the Knotty Pine. He and Harriett enjoyed dancing and traveled to most of the 50 states and to Europe. PeeWee is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Carl J.) Tenpas of Ballwin, MO; two sons, Gary (Judi) TenHaken of Oostburg and Jeffrey (Marlies) TenHaken of Germantown; two grandchildren, Rece (Rebekah) TenHaken and Erica (Ryan) Wade; three great grandchildren, Olivia and Alexa Wade and Lucy Joy TenHaken. PeeWee is also survived by nieces and nephews. PeeWee was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett; two sisters, Pearl (Irwin) DeMaster and Florence (Willis) Simmelink; and two brothers, Eugene (Molly) TenHaken and Harley TenHaken. A funeral to celebrate PeeWee's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial and Military Honors will take place at the Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima.
