Harold "Hal" E. Hamann, 81, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Hal was born on September 3, 1930, in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, son of Martin J. and Ruth (Brockmann) Hamann. He was a 1948 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School and a 1952 graduate from UW-Madison. Hal served in the US Army in Germany from 1952 - 1954 with the 14th Armored Field Artillery. On November 22, 1952, he married Donna M. Erdmann at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Hal was sales manager at Falls Dealer Supply-Richardson Industries and later in customer service with Mayline Company until his retirement in 1994. Hal was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. He was a past president and councilman, served on the visitation committee, was a private communion server and usher. He also served on the Board of Directors of Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. Hal was a member of the Sheboygan Falls American Legion Post #149 for 58 years. Hal loved spending winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. For over 30 years he kept a daily journal. Hal enjoyed spreading humor, listening to light classical music, genealogy, golf, bridge, and cribbage. Hal is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna; three daughters, Susan (Jon) Colby of North Kingstown, RI, Sharon (Peter) Hensel of Appleton, and Sara Hamann of Centennial, CO; two grandchildren, Julie Hensel-Woodrow of Appleton and Erin Hensel-Chisel of Appleton; two great-grandchildren, Emilie Iris and Vivienne Grace Woodrow; one brother, Delano Hamann of Sheboygan; two brothers-in-law, Robert Erdmann of Hudson and Ronald (Rosemary) Erdmann of Fremont. Hal is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Hal was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, William R. Farnell; one brother, Vernon (Bernetta) Hamann; one sister-in-law, Audrey Hamann. A memorial service to celebrate Hal's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson and Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Military honors will follow the service at the church. Private inurnment will be in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Hal's name for St. Paul Lutheran Church and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
