Gordon John Wieberdink, 93, a longtime resident of Cedar Grove but most recently residing at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014. Gordon was born on February 19, 1921 in Ozaukee County to Harry and Freida (Jentink) Wieberdink. He attended Pershing School, District 9, in Ozaukee County until the 8th grade. He then left school to help support his family. He was a WWII veteran; he served his country in the US Air Corp from 1942-1946. On June 26, 1944 he married (Arlyn) Jean Dulmes at the Gibbsville Reformed Church. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2009. Gordon was employed at Calumet Dutch/ Larson Company as a plant manager from 1945 until his retirement in 1975. After his retirement he served as a Lay Missionary with World Presbyterian Missions and TEAM Missions, Oasis Hospital, Al Ain Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Gordon was a longtime member of Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove where he served as Elder and a Sunday school teacher. He was also a Volunteer Fireman and volunteered his time at Pine Haven. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Gordon is survived by 3 sons, Larry (Ruth Ann) Wieberdink of Cedar Grove, Dennis (Elaine) Wieberdink of Henderson, NV, Darrel (Jan) Wieberdink of Columbus, NE; 1 daughter, Linda (Lee) VandeWall of Cedar Grove; 12 grandchildren, Karri (Gary) Konitzer, Rachel Tackes, Rob (Tamra) Wieberdink, Holly (J. Brian Watkins) VandeWall, Erica (James) Wagoner, Randall (Barbara) Brockman, Christine (Christopher) Bath, Susan Selthofner, Sherry (AJ) Oleniczak, Danielle (Jacob) VanDerLinden, Adam (Caitlin) Wieberdink, Nicole Wieberdink; 11 great-grandchildren, Ethan Tackes, Gavin Konitzer, Chase Konitzer, James P "Jamie" Wagoner, Alana Wieberdink, Ashlyn Wieberdink, Sara ( Fiance Joshua Gena) Riazi, Julia Bath, Brooke Brockman, Joshua Brockman, Tyler Leuders, Mason Schweizer, Adam Selthofner, Matthew Selthofner; 1 brother Leslie Wieberdink; 1 sister, Arlie Roerdink; 2 sisters-in-law, Arline Wieberdink, Edith Beernink, and Verla (Carl) Westerbeke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean; his parents; 3 brothers, Ernst Wieberdink, Robert Wieberdink and an infant brother; 2 sisters, Muriel Beernink, Doris Traas; 3 brothers-in-law, Leroy Traas, Stan Verhelst, Ivan Beernink; 3 sisters-in-law, Barbara Verhelst, LaVerne Wierbedink and June Peterson. A Funeral Service to Celebrates Gordon life will be on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11am at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove with Rev. David Veldhorst officiating. Burial will take place at Presbyterian Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, July 11, 2014 at church from 9am until the time of service at 11am.
