Gordon J. Hilbelink, 83, of Oostburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, November 11, 2011 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Gordon was born on May 29, 1928, in the Town of Holland, son of Harvey and Evelyn (Lammers) Hilbelink. He attended Southside School in Cedar Grove. Gordon served in the US Army in Japan and Korea from 1950 - 52. On May 11, 1951 he married Margaret Dekker in Sheboygan. Gordon was employed with Kohler Company for 40 years until his retirement in 1990. Gordon and his wife Margaret were longtime distributors of Watkins Products and were representatives for the Fuller Brush Co. They also operated a farm in the Town of Holland for numerous years. Gordon was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, where he served as an elder and sang in the choir. He and his brothers were part of the Hilbelink Quartet which sang in many area churches. He was a past president of the Oostburg Kiwanis Club and served on the board of directors of Pine Haven Christian Home. Gordon was a past commander of the American Legion - Hartman Lammers Post 286, belonged to the Oostburg Civic Pride Team and the Kohler Quarter Century Club. Gordon enjoyed woodworking, traveling, gardening, taking walks, jigsaw puzzles and bowling. Gordon enjoyed spending time with his family. Gordon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret; three daughters, Judy Hilbelink of Oostburg, Laura (Douglas) Oleinik of West Allis, and Susan (Fred) Lofton of Cameron Park, CA; three sons, Neal (Tina) Hilbelink of Manitowoc, Randy (Judy) Hilbelink of Orange City, IA and Roy (Cheryl) Hilbelink of Greenbush; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elvira (Ken) Janke of Sheboygan; two brothers, Ellsworth (Margie) Hilbelink of Cedar Grove and Ernest (Betty) Hilbelink of Adell; a daughter-in-law, Susana Hilbelink of West Laco, TX; two sisters-in-law, Marion (Virgil) Mullikin of Waldo and Dorothy (Harold) TenPas of Oostburg; two brothers-in-law, Martin Dekker and Ted Dekker, both of Sheboygan. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dale Hilbelink and his brother, Wesley Hilbelink. Funeral service to celebrate Gordon's life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove with the Revs. Ronald Beabout and Mark Hilbelink officiating. Burial and Military Honors will place in Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg from 4-8 pm on Monday, November 14, 2011, and on Tuesday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Gordon's name for Calvary OPC and Pine Haven Christian Communities.
