Gordon R. Billmann, 91, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Gordy was born on December 27, 1924, in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, son of Louis and Agnes (Ardts) Billmann. He attended school in Sheboygan Falls, graduating in 1942. Gordy served in the US Navy from 1944-1945, and in the Navel Reserves for five years. On September 3, 1949, he married Joyce Leon at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls. Joyce passed away on January 29, 2015. Gordy was employed with Kohler Company for 44 years, with the exception of 1954-1965 during the Kohler strike. During that period of labor dispute Gordy worked at Garton Toy. Gordy was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish. He was a member of UAW Local 833, receiving a UAW-CAP Council award in 2010 for outstanding labor person of the year and in 2014 received a lifetime achievement award from the Wisconsin Labor History Society. He was also a member of Kohler Company Quarter Century Club. Gordy enjoyed playing baseball and softball with Sopetto's, Dale's Bar, Jake Van Engen's Phillip's 66 Gas Station, and many various other teams, as a player and manager. He also played on 1947 Rainbow League Champs. Gordy also enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead and cribbage, hunting, and trapshooting. Gordy is survived by his five children, David "Weed" (Linda Mueller) Billmann of Sheboygan, Doug (Barb Zemke) Billmann of Sheboygan Falls, Dale (Karen Wirt) Billmann of Sheboygan, Daniel "Bear" (Lori Lemkuil) Billmann of Oostburg, and Denise (David) Scherbarth of Milwaukee. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Brenda (Mike) Swann, Brian, Derek (Fiancé Tawny), Kayla, Nicole, Shawn, and Scott Billmann, Amanda and Samantha Scherbarth; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Swann; and a sisters-in-law, Pat Morris of TN and Delores Leon of Plymouth. Gordy was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Joyce, his parents Louis and Agnes (Ardts) Billmann, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Amanda and Herman Leon, sister, Virginia (Billmann) Rammer and brother-in-law, Gordon Rammer Sr., one brother, Robert Billmann and sister-in-law, Diane Billmann, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Francis (Delores) Leon, Charles (Janet) Leon, Lawrence Leon and Lloyd Morris, and faithful companion, Jiggs. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Gordon's life will be held at 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Richard Cerpich officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the time of Mass at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gordon's name. The family would like to thank the staff of the Sharon S.
