Gloria Ann DeGroff

Gloria Ann DeGroff, 80, of Hingham, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Gloria was born on June 11, 1944, to Richard and Naomi (Maney) Tessmer in Wisconsin Rapids. She was united in marriage to Robert John DeGroff on January 28, 1964, in Dubuque, Iowa.

Gloria had a love of horses from a young age and owned horses for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors, taking pictures of the clouds, and gardening. Gloria was a talented cook and baker and was generous at sharing her baked goods with others. She enjoyed canning and motorcycling. More than anything, Gloria loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She will be remembered for her strong will, fighting spirit, and unconditional love.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert “Bob”; children, John (Nancy Lynn) DeGroff, Jeffery (fiancé Shawn Thomas) DeGroff, Jason (Hallie) DeGroff; grandchildren: Thomas John (Jessica Lynn) DeGroff, Robert Arthur (Jamie Jensema) DeGroff, Stephanie Ann (Paul Joseph) Duggar, Daniel John (Michelle Finzen) DeGroff, Anthony Robert DeGroff, Cassandra Lynn DeGroff, Abbey Lauretta (Zachary Hasenstein) DeGroff, Katelyn Rose DeGroff; great-grandchildren: Hannah Mae and Leah Joelle DeGroff; brother, Delmer “Bud” (Linda) Tessmer; sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean (Merlin) Engeldinger, Diane DeGroff; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, John and Dorothy DeGroff; great-grandchildren, Aaron Thomas and Andie Lynn DeGroff; siblings, Naomi, Louie, and infant twin, Glenn.
