Glenn R. Frier, 62, of Oostburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center. After a 4-year struggle with glioblastoma cancer, he fought with strength and dignity until the end. Sad to be leaving Sue, his strong faith allowed him to be at peace knowing that he would reach his final reward with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Glenn was born on January 19, 1962, to H.L. “Pee Wee” Frier Sr. and Carol (Murphy) Frier in Sheboygan. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1981 and was a part of the wrestling team. He later went on to obtain his electrical journeyman license at Moraine Park Technical College.
Glenn was united in marriage to Susan VanderWaal on January 1, 1994.
Glenn was employed at Schneider Cheese, Richardson Furniture, and Luedtke Electric, where he retired due to health issues, after over 20 years. He maintained lifelong friends throughout his working career. Following retirement, Glenn’s favorite job was driving a transportation van for Oostburg Christian School.
Glenn enjoyed studying the Apollo space missions and various NASA space programs. He loved spending time in his workshop, camping, yearly road trips with family, and being a grandpa. Glenn was proud to have traveled to 40 states and run 4 marathons over the years. He was a champion Monopoly player, a fan of the Green Bay Packers, and never missed watching and cheering on Emma in her Special Olympic events.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Sue; daughters, Amy (fiancé Dan) VanderWaal of Oostburg, Angela (Walter Sr.) Brendel of Sheboygan; grandchildren, Emma, Walter Jr., Makayla, Jameson; mother-in-law, Shirley Hilbelink; siblings, Vern (Faye) Frier Jr. of Oostburg, Debbie (Mike) O’Grady of Sheboygan Falls, Mike (Julie) Frier Sr. of Sheboygan Falls, Bill (Debbie) Frier of Gibbsville; his third favorite sister, Judy Frier of Sheboygan Falls; siblings-in-law, David (Carol) VanderWaal of Oostburg, Robert (Cheri) VanderWaal of Illinois, Nancy (John) DeGroff of Waldo; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Art VanderWaal, and stepfather-in-law, Donald Hilbelink.
