Gertrude Stramm

Gertrude "Gertie" Stramm, 80, of W2495 Ourtown Road, Sheboygan Falls, died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Pine Haven Christian Home following complications of a stroke suffered in September. She was born September 27, 1928 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Ernst C. and Dina (Klein Wassink) Stramm. Gertie was a 1946 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. After high school she worked in bookkeeping at The Milwaukee Sentinel until 1962. After moving back home, she worked at Kohler Company for 28 years in a number of departments until retiring from the Brass Division in 1990. She was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary; Senior Citizens, Quilting Club and Kohler Quarter Century Club. Gertie enjoyed crossword puzzles, golf, singing and traveling with friends, summer outdoor concerts, plays and community concerts, and Sheboygan Symphony concerts with her great friends, Joyce and Beverly. Gertie had a pleasant and cheerful disposition and was always gracious, polite, and had a generous spirit. Gertie maintained a large yard on Ourtown Road and was grateful for kind and caring neighbors. Survivors include one sister, Dorothy (Dr. William C.) Prigge of Orland Park, Ill; two nephews, William Frank (Julie) Prigge of Moorpark, CA; Robert E. (Masami) Prigge of Tokyo, Japan; great nieces and nephews, Ashton, Caroline, Alyssa, Billy Prigge; favorite cousins and dear friends, Joyce Weinkauf of Sheboygan Falls and Beverly Lueder of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services for Gertie will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls, with the Rev. Tom Gudmundson, officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 am. A memorial fund will be established in her name for St. Paul Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be sent to www.wenigfuneralhome.com.
