Gert Siever

September 5, 1929 — February 13, 2014

Gertrude Dorothy (Zitzer) Siever, 84, of Kohler, passed away Thursday evening, February 13, 2014 at her home. After 12 years, Gert was reunited with the love of her life, Jerome (Jerry) Siever for eternal Valentine's Days to come! Gert was born September 5, 1929 in Sheboygan to Jacob and Anna Elizabeth (Markus) Zitzer. Gert and her siblings were first generation Americans after her parents' immigration from Schulz, Russia in 1914. Gert proudly attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Sheboygan Central High in 1947. On May 27, 1950, Gert and Jerry Siever were married, happily spending 52 years together until Jerry's death in 2002. Prior to her marriage and for an additional 20 years of her adult life, Gert enjoyed working at the Kohler Co, eventually in the Public Affairs Department where she made life-long friendships. Her final working years were spent assisting her daughter in the development of her import business, Europa Link. Gert was the family photographer. Until late in her life, she was never without a camera to document all of her family's events. As the shelves of well-organized photo albums attest, her family's history will survive because of her diligent efforts. Gert's joy came through her family and friends. She was a constant support and helping hand to all who knew and loved her. Gert is survived and will be forever missed by: daughter, Lynn Siever Rousse and " favorite son-in-law" Steve Rousse (son, Paul); son, Jack Siever and daughter-in-law Bridgette (daughter, Amanda Jo Soyk); special daughter-in-law, Diane (Bocchini) Siever; grandson, Matthew Douglas Siever; granddaughter, Rachelle Anne Siever; great grandchildren, Adrian Fale and Isabella King. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, "the Club Ladies": Mary Stueber, Joyce Holzer, Dorothy Koene, Mary Leach, and Laurie Hartig. Her always sunny outlook on life will be missed by all who knew her. Gert was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters Selma, Irma, and Marie Zitzer, brothers Otto and Jake Zitzer, and in-laws Joseph and Viola (Rennhack) Siever. Visitation with family and friends will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 from 4-7 pm at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls, and at church on Saturday from 11am-1 pm, with services to follow. A service of celebration of Gert's life will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 1 pm with Rev. Timothy Mech officiating.
