Gerald F. "Jerry" Spielvogel, 70, of Oostburg died on Saturday morning, August 13, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in the Sheboygan Falls. Jerry was born on January 11, 1946 in Milwaukee, the son of Eugene and LeAndra (Jens) Spielvogel. He graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee and then served with the US Marines in Vietnam from 1964-67. On March 11, 1967 he married Mary Ann Engebretson in Milwaukee. Jerry was a mechanic for the Milwaukee Transit Bus for 30 years before his retirement in 1998. Jerry had attended St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada and was a member of the Belgium American Legion. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, gardening, yardwork, music, John Wayne movies, the Green Bay Packers, and spending time outdoors and with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann; one daughter, Laura (Pam Adelman) Spielvogel of Kiel; two sons, Timothy (Jeannie) Spielvogel of West Bend and Todd (Sarah) Spielvogel of Hingham; seven grandchildren, TJ, Taylor, Sydney, Chase, Josie Spielvogel, Nathan (Taylor) Turner and Taylor Turner; four sisters, Elaine Walz of Madison, Joanne (Robert) Janke of Wind Lake, Janet (Alvin) Zimlicka of Elkhart Lake and Ruth Daniels of Kenosha; one brother, Robert Spielvogel of Richfield and ten sisters-in-law, Therese Spielvogel of Sussex, Theresa Seybold of Milwaukee, Barbara (Ken) Hottenstein of West Bend, Sandy (Dale) Lepinski of Stevens Point, Linda Engebretson of Fremont, Christine Engebretson of Wisconsin Rapids, Chris Milanowski, Annette Mansavage, Susan Engebretson, and Joanie Engebretson, and two brothers-in-law, Raymond (Marlene) Mansavage and Edward Engebretson, all of Stevens Point. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Rose (Leo) Paul and one brother, Eugene Spielvogel. A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg at 6 pm on Thursday, August 18, 2016 with Fr. Dick Cerpich officiating. Military Honors will follow.
