George Saemann

George N. Saemann, 87, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls where he had resided for the past five months. George was born on March 6, 1929 in Waukesha, the son of the late Edward and Etta (Reiss) Saemann. George attended Waldo High School graduating in 1946. He joined the United States Army where he served from 1946-1948, on occupational duty as an MP in Korea. On April 17, 1953 he married Delores McElroy in Adell. Upon his return from the Army he worked at numerous manufacturing companies in Plymouth and Port Washington. He began working at the Kohler Co. in 1952, working there for 40 years. George started working in production and ultimately became Supervisor of Inspection of the Enamel Division. He traveled to many of Kohler's International Divisions located in Europe and the Far East working in quality control. George retired from the Kohler Co. in 1992. George was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club. George was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where he served as an usher, a member of the church council, and the building committee. In 1995, during the building of the new church, he was there daily to help in any way possible, He enjoyed vacationing in northern Wisconsin at Big Stone Lake near Three Lakes. He took many biking trips from Sheboygan Falls to Big Stone Lake with his children and once biked over 300 miles to the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. In retirement, he traveled with Delores to many parts of the United States. As an avid sports fan, George enjoyed watching and attending Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Bucks games. His favorite sporting events to watch though, were his granddaughters'. He also enjoyed golf, winemaking, bowling, and helping his children. He and Delores enjoyed trips to the Fireside Dinner Theater in Fort Atkinson. George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delores; four children, Kent (Lisa) Saemann of Kohler, Kay Saemann of Plymouth, Mark Saemann of Sheboygan Falls, and Beth (Jason Wrensch) Saemann of Sheboygan Falls, two granddaughters, Rachel Saemann of Minneapolis, MN, and Kara Saemann of Kohler. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Wierman of Wauwatosa, a sister-in-law, Karen McElroy, of West Bend; and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Sheri Lee Saemann; two brothers, Kenneth (Audrey) Saemann and Edward Saemann; two sisters, Doris (Edward) Davey and Ruth Saemann; and two brothers-in-law, Donald McElroy and John R. 'Bob' Wierman. With his dry sense of humor he would brighten every gathering. He will be deeply missed by all. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 12:30 pm with the Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Inurnment and Military Honoors will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
