George Harrison

August 17, 1923 — October 24, 2013

George A. Harrison, 90, of Oostburg, passed away on Thursday evening, October 24, 2013, at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls. George lived a life filled with faith, family and friends. He was born on August 17, 1923, in the Town of Lyndon, son of the late Arthur and Cora (VanEss) Harrison. He was a 1941 graduate of Waldo High School. George served in the US Army during WW II from 1944-1946. He greatly appreciated the opportunity to participate in the Honor Flight in 2011. On February 25, 1944, he married Lenore F. Rushton in the Town of Sherman. Lenore passed away on November 30, 1998. George worked for the Sheboygan County Highway Department for 38 years and retired as a Patrol Superintendent in 1986. George was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo. He was a member of the American Legion in Hingham, and enjoyed being involved with Campus Life. He enjoyed traveling, sharing from his garden and spending time with his family and friends. He had an incredible talent for fixing anything that needed repairs and frequently shared that gift with others. George is survived by his daughter, Sharon (William) Goehring of the Town of Sherman, his son, Paul (Mary) Harrison of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Emily and Calah Goehring, and Heather and Christopher Harrison; brother-in-law, Howard (Nancy) Rushton of Cedar Grove; and special friend, LaVerne Lemmenes of Cedar Grove. George was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lenore, his brother Lawrence Harrison and his wife Arlyle; his brother Robert Harrison and his wife Kay; his sister Helen Wilterdink and her husband Art. A funeral service to celebrate George's life will be held at 4pm on Sunday October 27, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo with Rev. Nhia Wahn Her officiating. Burial will take place in Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:30pm until the time of service. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in George's name for Trinity United Methodist Church and Campus Life.
