Gene Ranke

Gene E. Ranke, 79, of 210 North Main Street, Apt 201, Cedar Grove died at his home on Tuesday morning, April 27, 2010. Gene was born in Burlington on April 19, 1931, the son of the late Walter and Pearl (Schubel) Ranke. He graduated from Waterford Union High School in 1949. Following high school he served in the US Marine Corps from 1952-54. Gene married Joyce Pfeiffer on August 7, 1954 in Milwaukee. Gene was a truck driver for many years driving for Jim Imme Transport and Hy-Way Trucking. He also enjoyed doing field work at the farm of Dennis Huibregtse. Gene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst. He enjoyed farm work and driving truck, gardening, and sports. Gene was a very gregarious person that always enjoyed being with other people. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Cedar Grove; one daughter, Susan (Scott) Stedman of Milwaukee; a daughter-in-law, Christine Ranke of Cato; two grandchildren, Matthew Ranke and Alan "AJ" Wittenburg; two step grandchildren, Vernon Kittler and Stacy (Brad) Arndt; one sister, Carol (Dale) Carlson of Appleton; one step brother, Edwin Krueger of Indiana, nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Todd Ranke; and a step brother, Leslie Krueger. Funeral services will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 5 pm with the Rev. Wayne Tripp officiating. Military Honors will follow. Private family burial will take place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 2-5 pm.
